Why Tour Guides Need Insurance
As tour guides our job is to take groups of people to experience the many sights and wonders of this big country.
Our guests follow our lead and get exposed to conditions that we take them to.
As such we are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of those people and may be held responsible for any harm that may come to them.
Therefore it is critical that we protect ourselves and provide responsible coverage for our guests in the event of any personal injury or property damage.
This is why public indemnity insurance to the value of at least $10m is a cornerstone condition of Professional Guide membership of Tour Guides Australia.
Tourism operators who contract Professional Guides also require proof of Public Indemnity Insurance, and many land managers and parks authorities throughout Australia will require similar indemnity for guides to lead tours on land they manage.
To support our members Tour Guides Australia organises access to a very beneficial Public Liability, Product Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance policy. This is a key benefit of ongoing membership of Tour Guides Australia.
